The installation is a little unusual in the fact that the software refuses to install until a USB drive or memory card is detected (the software installs directly to the storage medium). This makes this far less daunting for users who have no experience of using USB security applications or encryption technology and could be a bit nervous about the safety of their data when using such software. Only three simple steps are needed to begin protecting files that are stored on either a USB flash drive or memory card. As a result of this, the remaining files stay encrypted while the media is inserted into the PC which provides added security for the user. The remainder of the files remain encrypted on the storage medium because only the file accessed has been decrypted when the correct password is entered. When the USB drive (or memory card) is removed, the open files immediately locked down to prevent access by other people who may use the same computer afterward. This means that files can only be unlocked when the correct password is entered. The software encrypts the files stored on the USB flash drive (or memory card) using 256bit AES encryption. Kakasoft USB Security is a USB protection software package that intends to protect users who plug in a USB drive and then wish to ensure their data will be kept safe even in an internet cafe computer.
